Oxytocin: A Lovable Hormone
Oxytocin is sometimes referred as the love hormone. And according to Hormone Health Network, Cupid's arrow is dipped in this stuff. It rises when we make physical contact with another human. It is produced in hypothalamus and females usually have higher levels than males. In 2012, researchers reported that people in the first stages of romantic attachment had higher levels of oxytocin, compared with non-attached single people.
Medical News Today states that it is an important component of a complex neurochemical system that allows the body to adapt to highly emotive situations. It is associated with social behaviour, maternal care, bonding between couples, sexual behaviour, social memory, and trust.
When we are talking about love, we often say that follow your heart. But, scientifically, love is due to the hormone Oxytocin which is released from the brain.
No matter where love came from, still we should love others with all our heart.
